How I Lower Blood Sugar In a Pinch

While monitoring blood sugar religiously: Stop drinking caffeine  Stop eating Drink water Calculate if I took correct insulin dosage - if not, try a correcting dosage.  *Do not attempt to insulin stack.   Moderate exercise - like calf raises or a walk/jog. Takes a little time though to see results (Do not be discouraged. It took me mid-3.5 mile job before I realized it was lowering too rapidly.) *Intense exercise apparently causes higher blood sugar! **Also high blood sugar causes me to urinate frequently. Choose a route near a bathroom! When I Can't Exercise because it's the middle of the night or raining: Reduce stress through music Lay down  Deep breathing/Meditation When All Fails: Go to the ER - if it still remains ridiculously high (especially if detect ketones in urine - using ketone urinalysis strips I purchased online.)

I have T1D and BD.  T1D stands for type 1 diabetes.  BD stands for bipolar disorder.  I have been bipolar since I was 19. I was diagnosed as T2D before I was 30. I am 34 years old, but I was diagnosed as T1D just about two weeks ago. Last night, I grieved over my condition for the first time. I never thought T2D a problem, but I now feel I am both recognized as physically and mentally disabled; I have not one, but two disabilities. If I didn't feel f***ed up enough already, now I'm f***ed up in mind and body.  And what scared me most is how little material out there on patients with both disorders given that diabetes is a comorbidity of bipolar disorder. I wanted help, but there wasn't any online. How can that be? Doesn't the internet always have answers? I hope that whoever reads this will gain insight to being bipolar and diabetic because there sure weren't any blogs that tell the story of being both to guide me...  DISCLAIMER: Do not take any of my posts as m...
